When you used to be kind of big deal, and it's been a few years for me now, there remain a very few people who remember you used to be a big deal, and there are a few more who perhaps have heard whispers of you as having been kind of a big deal.
It all makes blogging so easy if highly irregular.
One of the people who knows the true or legendary story of Kind Of Big Dealness, asks you a question. You helpfully answer the question and realize if put your dialog in with some archived footage of being kind of a big deal, you've got a blog.
220 Kg. Not Bad Really.
This time, oddly given my history, it was a woman who heard of the legend, and that at least second hand I believe.
JD I don't, but it can't hurt to go have a look.
ABAW Ok. Can you give me any tips on gym etiquette? These types of gyms seem very different than the ones I'm use to and I don't want to be a total ass my first time out
JD Just walk in and own it. Women always get respect as long as they really lift. Actually, if that doesn't work you're in the wrong place.
ABAW I'll do my best! In my normal gym environment I have no problem with that. Here my introversion + injury is screwing with me a bit.
This whole being a chicken thing is really new and awkward for me
JD I'm introverted as fuck. Go do your thing. What eventually, happened to me was I would walk in and squat 405+ and all the bodybuilder guys would avoid me.
You can play the female card and you'll get the same effect around 200, 225 for sure.
ABAW that
That's it?
JD yeah
I used to cower in the corner. I simply squatted with intent for a few years and I could see these guys cower around me.
ABAW how many lbs on a yoke? (I had an insta love moment with that thing)
JD On the yoke you can either load it until you bleed or just work around body weight.
ABAW I tried it once and body weight was oddly easy. I didn't know what I was doing and didn't want to injure myself so I left it there
It felt like 65lbs but I later found out the yoke it's self was around 200
JD any kind of loaded carry is basically legal D-Bol. You get jacked either at body weight for distance or heavier for whatever distance you go.
I think I'm going to blog this. The kids need encouragement.
ABAW There's a blog?
JD Yeah, I have barbell mile which I don't update, and bad elbows where I'm largely inactive unless I get a teaching point like this.
I used to be kind of a big deal. I find people like you and I kind of want to go back and knock off a 500 pound squat, but it would kill my jiu jitsu.
ABAW You know... I keep bumping into powerlifting people like that. I'm just sitting here thinking "hey you're cool I like talking to you and we like the same stuff". Then outta no where it turns out they're like some super ninja and stuff
JD We have learned the secret. It is nothing more than work and persistence.
There are some mental aspects of course.
To me it's all that matters, but I don't write on it much. The people who don't understand don't believe what I do anyway.
Let those that have ears hear. I really might go back and smash 500, but it would kill my jiu jitsu, and it's not bad to have been kind of a big deal.
